Omegle
The modern replacement
Omegle is gone. RandomCam carries the torch — random video chat and text chat with strangers, safer and free.
Try the Omegle replacementOmegle defined an entire era of the internet — pair up with a stranger, chat, skip, repeat. When it shut down in late 2023, that spontaneous magic disappeared overnight.
RandomCam brings it back. Same instant random matching, but rebuilt with the moderation and safety that Omegle never had. Video or text, free, no account.
What happened to Omegle — and what to use now
Omegle was created in 2009 and shut down in late 2023. Its founder publicly said the platform could no longer sustain the cost of moderating millions of users while keeping them safe — a problem RandomCam was built to solve from day one.
If you miss Omegle's instant stranger matching, the closest experience today is random video chat and text chat on a moderated platform like RandomCam. Video or text, free, anonymous, no account.
Lots of sites have called themselves the next Omegle since the shutdown. Very few combine real moderation, an 18+ policy, and free unlimited chat the way RandomCam does.
