What Is Chat Roulette? A Beginner's Guide

Chat roulette is a type of website that randomly pairs you with a stranger for a one-on-one conversation. You never know who you'll meet — and that's the whole point.

How it works. You open the site, choose video or text chat, and you're instantly connected to a random stranger somewhere in the world. If the conversation isn't for you, hit skip and you're paired with someone new.

Video or text? Video chat roulette puts you face-to-face on camera. Text chat roulette lets you type without showing your face. Most sites — including RandomCam — offer both.

Why people love it. It's the fastest way to meet someone new, practice a foreign language, or break out of a social rut. No profile, no swiping, no algorithms — just spontaneous conversation.

Is it free? Yes. RandomCam is completely free with no account required. You can start a random chat in under five seconds.
